This movie is NOT going to be smart. People will still do what no sane person would do (stop at a shitty gas station AND take the advice of the creepy attendant to go into the hills on a ‘shortcut’, NOT shoot the freak when he’s down but certainly not dead,…). On the other hand that is now to be expected from this genre, so I tend to just accept them as a given. I thought it worked because in spite of all these flaws, it had some very good scenes. I particulalry liked the pretty intense rescue operation to get the baby back, the smart use of a fishing pole and line, and was surprised by one character’s transformation. I had that character pegged to have his heart eaten out first. I was wrong.
