Russian Ark (Aleksandr Sokurov – 2002) B

It is ironic that for a movie more than 90 minutes long filmed in ONE shot, yes one long sustained shot (took three trials by the way to get it right), it took me about 4 attempts to get through it!! The thing is like a sleeping pill damn it. I start watching, the Marquis starts talking about art and history…Russian art slips by and I’m snoring. I appreciate how challenging it is to make this film with over 800 actors in one day and how beautiful Russian art and the museum are, but I have to be honest: it was a bit boring.
