The Man Without a Past (Aki Kaurismaki – 2002) B+

My first experience with the work of this Finnish director was quiet fun. He treats a story of an amnesiac who has no idea who he is or where he came from with subtlety that makes him even more intriguing. At the same time the life that the amnesiac starts to rebuild out of nothing is fascinating and filled with unique characters, locales and pass times. I reached a point in this movie where, like its hero, I simply did not care what his previous life was like. I was enjoying the new life and people he came to know and love.
