A quirky film that had me smiling through the first hour before it took a turn into a field of sunflowers. That beautiful scene is where this light quirky comedy (the potato routine was one of the best) turned into a somber somewhat sad drama.
It took a while for this one to sink in, I was honestly going to give it a lower rating but then what seemed like a film missing an ending or a purpose made sense. It is all there, maybe not a neat package but it is there and I could not stop thinking about it. Also, the performances by Harris and Hurt are quiet sensational.
I admit I have very little patience for this genre. It just does not do much for me. This one had some creepy moments and some crappy plot.
That fake pregnancy scheme really sent this sorry film down the toilet.
Another suburban dysfunction film. Overall well done though.
What a blast. This is my favorite Kauffman movie so far and worth seeing a couple of more times. Further proof (along with The Truman Show) that Jim Carey is more than just a clown.
Smart suspense thriller and in Mamet’s tradition it is as much fun to listen to the dialogue as it is to follow the story line.
